Mary Rose's Testimonial

I am Mary Rose Sison, 38 years old, a single mother of three and I live in the Philippines.

I would like to share with you how my online coach and motivator, IFBB Pro Mr. Patrick Skailes is helping me achieve my goals in bodybuilding. He has done so much for me that I couldn't thank him enough. He is the reason why bodybuilding has become my passion.

I've started working out in 2009 and my goal that time was to lose weight. I was hoping to bring back the skinny look I used to have before I got pregnant. I started doing cardio exercises and some light weight training and I've lost a lot of weight. I felt good but I wasn't satisfied. I realized that I wanted more. More than just a skinny body, I wanted to grow muscles, look lean and strong. And since I am not genetically gifted, I decided to search the internet and introduced myself to bodybuilding in 2012. I never had a personal trainer because I couldn't afford to get one. I just taught myself by inquiring from gym instructors, reading articles and researching online for training programs and nutrition. Hence, I become more interested in bodybuilding. One day, someone asked me if I want to compete. My answer was YES! But how? Where do I start? I have no idea at all.

Until Mr. Airnel Talatala Abarra, a good friend who was doing a comprehensive study on Women's Bodybuilding introduced me via Facebook to CBBF National Bodybuilding competitor Lucy Fur (Dolly Skailes) and her husband IFBB Pro Mr. Patrick Skailes. It was so overwhelming! Suddenly, it's like I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. I knew that I will finally have a direction. I realized through them that bodybuilding isn't just a sport, it is a lifestyle. My coach made me realize my potential. He gave me hope and a chance to transform me into a bodybuilder.

So, my dream of competing came true! My coach, IFBB Pro Mr. Patrick Skailes helped me throughout the contest prep. It wasn't easy since it was my first time to compete. The training and diet were all new to me. But coach Pat was very patient with me. He motivated to keep going and not give up because the real competition is not on stage, it is me versus me.

My first competition happened this year. It was at Gemmalyn Crosby's Sports Festival in Manila, Philippines in September where I took 2nd place in the Open Figure Division as there was no FBBing or WPD to compete in. And my second competition was international. It's Shawn Rhoden Classic Bodybuilding Competition in October, I took 5th place in the figure division. The feeling of finally stepping on stage next to my idols was surreal! Winning wasn't my goal. I just enjoyed the show just like what my coach told me.

None of these would've been possible if not for my coach. He is one hell of a motivator. He made me think like a champion and train like a warrior. And he never fails to remind me to stay strong and exceed myself in and out of the gym. Therefore, I will continue what we have started because I always want to make him proud of me.
